From Best Quality Daughter

"Best Quality Daughter houses a vibrant, chic décor and new, unique Asian-American menu. In 2018, chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, wanting to address the sparsity of Asian-American female chefs in South Texas, developed a new concept through a series of pop-up dinners called Best Quality Daughter with fellow chef Anne Ng and artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk. Today Best Quality Daughter is located in the historic Mueller House at the Pearl Brewery. Curated by chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, Best Quality Daughter's menu takes inspiration from her travels and the comfort food of her youth as a second-generation Chinese-American."

Got the black bean noodles and a shrimp dish. We were expecting them to be good, but not as good as it actually was! Wow, blown away by the flavors and textures! The service was good and the food came out extremely fast! You'll need to make a reservation to come here, but it's worth it and they are professional enough to honor the reservation and be ready for you unlike other places. Fantastic experience 👏

Decided to have lunch here, especially after the great reviews. This place is so cute with wonderful employees. We started out with the Mochi Cheddar Hush Puppies. These were so good full of warm cheddar cheese. I ordered the Cashew Chicken which is probably the best I have ever had! My daughter order the Short Rib Bro which was disappointing. So she shared mine. I simply had a coke to drink and my daughter ordered the Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade which was very good. Overall fun eclectic place to go to.

I love restaurants that have happy hour. (5pm-6pm) Especially when you know you're getting a good deal. When I read that this is one of the best restaurants in Texas, I knew I had to try it. The popcorn chicken appetizer was amazing. The sauces that come with the appetizers are amazing. All the entrees were on point. This place definitely lives up it its reviews.

This is a fun place to go for (not first) date night or girls night. There's a lot of hype behind this place lately and, unfortunately, I don't know that I can say that it lives up to the hype. The food was okay about a six out of 10. If I had to go back I would probably only get the drinks. Drinks were 8 or 9 out of 10. Moderate child friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Moderately handicapped accessible. If there's one thing that I could say really needs to change at this place it is their dinnerware. Unfortunately, the dinnerware is not the greatest quality and therefore does not keep the food warm. The food came out steaming and by the time I went to take a couple of bites it was already very cold. Although this place is a great place to take someone for a date or girls night I would not recommend it for a first date. The service was about a 6 out of 10.I ate the hush puppies and pork fried rice.

Flat out phenomenal food. All the food was amazing. The short rib noodles and the pork fried rice were the best dishes. The green beans shouldnt be passed over either. All had good spice levels. The popcorn chicken was also perfectly crisp and not not too dry or greasy. The pepper shrimp had a wonderfully light batter and the noodles were great.

Easily my favorite restaurant in town that offers a fresh and modern take on Chinese food. Been here a couple times now and both experiences were incredible. Great service with delicious family style food in a cool location. They also have some unique beer imports and really good vegan dishes too!Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: Yes …More

Firstly, if you plan on having a meal at Best Quality Daughter, PUT IN A RESERVATION. My group stopped by on a Friday afternoon and the host was turning people away (us included) and saying that it was a 2 hour wait. Lucky for us, we were in the area for a couple days. Pictures are mostly from the appetizers we ordered, everything was good and anything fried was not greasy. Do yourself a favor and order the brussell sprouts. Cocktails were amazing, but I would not reorder the alcoholic milk tea which tasted like a chilled irish whiskey, if that’s your jam then you’d like it. We all ordered entrees from the noodle portion of the menu and found ourselves almost immediately asking for to-go boxes (it was too much food!). There’s a whole different section for the family style but if it’s not on the appetizer section, it’s all family style; definitely something to keep in mind if you decide to go all out on appetizers like we did

We met a friend at Best Quality Daughter for lunch on Tuesday Nov. 2. It was our second time at the restaurant. Overall, I love this place and will definitely be back!On this absolutely beautiful day, we sat outside per our friend's request. I can't recommend the outside seating due to it's proximity to the highway. The traffic noise was loud, and to me, distracting. If that isn't a thing for you then you may enjoy it.We ordered from the lunch menu. The prices on the lunch menu were pretty good (esp. for the Pearl) and the portions were not small. Phew. The server was enjoyable, borderline entertaining. But ... all 4 of our entrees came out at 3 different times. It was uncomfortable because our friend is older and a slower eater and his came out much later than all of ours. All of the food is tasty, lovely and absolutely beautiful to look at.My husband and I both ordered the salt and pepper shrimp. It came with the peels, legs and tails intact. This was not a problem for my husband. He picked the legs and tails off and ate the shells. Ugh. I was not going to do this. Picking the peels off was a bit tedious and there was sooo much red (chili ?) oil on it that I went through napkins like crazy and felt like a cave man going at my food. Neither of us would order that entree again. My daughter had the stuffed tofu and ate half of it. She said it was good but didn't want a go-box. Our friend had the cashew chicken. He said he enjoyed it.The ice cream sandwiches were incredibly tasty, though not super easy to it. So tasty ... worth a couple awkward moments for me. ;)The restauranteurs come across as very clever and creative people. The indoor seating areas are really cool. The drink names though! The drinks have the funniest and most witty names. It all makes for a great experience.I give it a solid 4.5. (Why won't Yelp let me do half a star? ugh.)PS The first time we ate here we ordered the dan dan noodles and fried rice and I'm still thinking about them. SOOOO delicious. I will get those next time ... and the short rib noodles. YUM!

Great service, food and drinks. Even the nonalcoholic tea with honey was good. Friend enjoyed the purple ube. All the noodles were good but the tofu and sauces were amazing. The crispy chicken green sauce was the best.

Had a reservation for lunch on a Thursday right when it opened at 11am. It wasn't busy then, but was packed when we left. Our server Isaac was great! He explained the menu thoroughly and took good care of us. We tried the hush puppies, pot stickers, and brussels sprouts. All were tasty, but I would go back just to eat those brussels sprouts again. The sauce on those was amazing! I split the cashew chicken and short rib bao with a friend. Both had great flavor. The cashew chicken had a little too many onions in my opinion. The fries were yummy with the curried mayo. Just FYI parking at the Pearl is still free right behind this restaurant.
