Consumer Alerts?

elsombreroseattle is dedicated to provide customers with trustworthy, dependable, and relevant information when determining where to spend their money, as well as leveling the playing field for hardworking companies who deserve their excellent reputations. We launched our Consumer Alerts program in 2021 to alert customers when we discover evidence of excessive efforts to influence a business’s ratings and reviews. Since then, we’ve broadened the program to encompass additional egregious techniques that might hurt customers or unjustly penalize other firms.

When we issue a Consumer Alert, a warning notice appears above the review area of that business’s Elsombreroseattle Page, advising customers of the violation of our rules and providing a link to see the evidence we gathered, if it is available.

Here are some examples of Consumer Alerts that we could post on Elsombreroseattle company pages:
When we obtain proof that someone is buying reviews, we publish a Compensated Activity Alert on the company page. If the objectionable activity ceases, this warning will usually be removed from the business page after 90 days.

When our recommendation software detects a disproportionate number of reviews coming from the same IP address (a helpful indicator that they may all be coming from a single source and thus lack authenticity), we place a Suspicious Review Activity Alert on business pages, or if our team discovers a possible connection to a deceptive review ring. If the objectionable activity ceases, this warning will usually be removed from the business page after 90 days.

When we get proof that a company is making a questionable legal threat against a reviewer or employing a contractual gag clause to suppress critical reviews, we may publish a Questionable Legal Threats Alert on their business page. This warning is withdrawn on an individual basis.

When a company gets an influx of elsombreroseattle reviews that are driven by a recent news event rather than genuine customer experiences with the business, we issue an Unusual Activity Alert. This will prevent the ability to submit reviews on the page for the time being. When traffic on the page has significantly diminished or halted, this notice is withdrawn on a case-by-case basis.

We issue a Public Attention Alert to notify customers if someone linked with the company has been accused of or is the subject of racist activity. We are strongly opposed to racism and will temporarily limit the opportunity to post until we are satisfied that all material represents first-hand customer experiences. When a company comes under fire for obviously racist behavior, we’ll issue a Business Accused of Racist Behavior Alert with a link to a news item where people may learn more. When traffic on the page has significantly diminished or halted, these notifications are withdrawn on a case-by-case basis.

We do a thorough assessment before sending one of these warnings to ensure that it is justified. More information on elsombreroseattle Consumer Alerts program may be found here.
