Can't go to Texas without having some barbecue. What feels even more Texas is lining up for a food truck and grabbing a seat at one of the picnic tables in the outdoor space. I found it interesting that there was plenty of land to put in a brick & mortar restaurant, but eating outside is part of the charm in Austin. We shared two $17 two meat plates, and we chose the Brisket, Pork Ribs, Beef Rib, Sausage, Beet Salad, Beans, Coleslaw, with sliced bread. The brisket was very tender and sausage very savory with a good snap. The ribs were good, but not great for sharing, because there's only 1 or 2 of them in each order. The beet salad and coleslaw were very refreshing and cooled us down on that hot day.If I ever return, I think I'd want to try a brisket sandwich or the Frito pie.

Austin BBQ is a bit of a he said she said in terms of what’s best, because in general it’s all the best there is in the country. Micklethwait is one of my favorite spots to go for it though because the sides are amazing, I know the brisket is always juicy and flavorful, and because the sausage is top notch. It’s consistently great and it’s always somewhere I love to show to people from out of town. They have the Saddle Up beer garden open now, which adds a cool twist to the standard Micklethwait experience. Lots of beer and drink options to enjoy while you’re waiting for your food or even to order and help quell the storm after you start suffering from a case of the meat sweats. Sides are great; the slaw is one of my favorites and the Mac is also highly recommended.Expect a wait in Saturdays if you aren’t there by opening but pretty chill if you go during the week within the first couple of hours they’re open

Didn't ask for moist brisket on accident, but the brisket still came out pretty moist. Decently fatty, not much of a smoke ring though.Pork ribs were great, solid order.Beef rib was kind of salty and not as tender as I would have liked.Overall, pretty good BBQ, still prefer truths in Houston though.

Another great barbecue spot in Austin! Got the brisket, sausage, pork ribs, and barbacoa. Everything was cooked really well, and super tasty. A bit less bark than some of the other spots (Terry Black's, Franklin, la) but that's not a negative. Great sides and white bread too!

Excellent ordering and distancing scheme. Contactless pay.I had the smash burger as is with red onions cheese Tom-Tom sauce and their self-made pickles. It was quite good. Also sampled half-pound of pork ribs. Tender and flavorful. Nice seasoning crust. The lemon poppyseed cole slaw is delicious. The meat doesn’t require sauce but their sauce has a really good citrus presence and it does enhance nicely.

Got here around 3pm on a Wednesday and just about everything was sold off the menu. From what I did have I wasn't blown away. Found the food to be 1. not hot at all, it was definitely under 145°F. 2. I found the food to be bland so I drenched it in bbq sauce for flavor. This place is a unique spot and I found it interesting to have such a high rating and praise. But the food wasn't all that. Maybe I'll try something else next time.

We missed the entrance but most def worth making the block. One of the best brisket sandwiches I've had in years, and I eat A LOT of brisket. The Pitmaster knows his business!

You know, there’s so much good bbq in this region/state that objectivity is difficult. So, it’s nice to find places that are doing traditional bbq a little bit differently. The pork ribs are top notch. Brisket is fantastic. Beef rib is massive and amazing. Sausage is good, and the flavors are there, but mine lacked the snap that I love (my only gripe). Sides are solid, if a little on the light side (which is nice, because the bbq is heavy duty). As a nice touch, the white bread is homemade, and can stand up to the meats and sauce, and the pickles are fantastic.Great space to have some high quality beers (Jester King, Maine Beer Co, etc.) and great bbq.

Good barbecue. Tex-Czech sausage was delicious, but their pork ribs and brisket didn’t hit the mark for me. However, their sides are delicious. Jalapeño cheese grits next to some mac & cheese.

Wanted to try some Austin BBQ. A friend told us to go here vs Franklins. I’m not a huge bbq fan, but this was a good place. We waited probably 30 minutes in line, but not bad considering Franklins is notorious for several hour wait times. This place is BYOB, so don’t plan on ordering alcohol from them.
