The in-house band performs songs for each table on request. Great food and cocktails. Quick service. Variety of dishes for veg and non-veg. Only thing is I did not like black beans in mashed form. And the portion size was a bit on the heavy side. Suggested you go really hungry to finish the plate. Pet friendly place. The servers were amazing.

Genuinely surprised at the good reviews this place has. Our experience was horrendous. The food barely edible. Ordered the fajitas, the meat was mostly fat, ZERO flavor. The beans and rice were complete mush, and again, no flavor at all, the blandest Mexican food I’ve ever had. I’d give zero stars if I could.

If you’re in San Antonio and venture out to the Riverwalk this is a staple! This is some of the best most authentic Mexican food you can have anywhere! I would recommend the classic platter which is phenomenal. I would also recommend a spicy margarita it was the best! The chips and salsa are also fantastic and you can’t beat the venue!
Hey ItsTurtle
no complementary chips and salsa, very bad food, humid and hot inside, drinks good but wouldn’t waste money on the food. The chicken fajitas were inedible and had a ton of fat. Chicken quesadillas came with barely any cheese, and UNcooked peppers. Our server was awesome but not worth it.

This was a spontaneous spot to try out and I enjoyed the entire meal. I had the chicken fajita which was fresh and juicy. The rice was what I was expecting when it comes to Mexican rice especially with the beans. The frozen magarita was a little more on the sweet side where they weren't generous with the alcohol. The waiter did take a little long than usually in taking our order due to, what I am assuming is the lack of employees, to help serve the amount of people coming in.

The food was amazing & our waiter was very nice. Everyone was enjoying themselves & there were beautiful ducks around. Definitely will be coming back the next time I’m in town!

Not my type of cousin, but I went there, service was good. Food some people liked it some not it is questionable. My gin tonic was legit. WC a bit down in standard. Music quality and atmosphere not good, time to invest a bit. But waiters are doing as much as they can to remedy everything.

Background, I live in North Dallas, home of the famous Mi Cocina Mambo Taxi and Glorias Sangria Swirl. I hate to do this, but “Rio Rio” was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. There were so many things wrong, so I will make a bullet point list:1. Chips and Salsa… this is always FREE, Rio Rio charges $4.502. Margarita… Tasted like margarita mix. The frozen Rita was foamy and disgusting. I couldn’t even fight through it. After a few sips, I couldn’t do it.3. The chicken fajitas were not sizzling when they came out. The food was cold. The chicken had no flavor. Terrible terrible4. My daughter ordered a soft beef taco. I took a picture… no words needed; it looks like dog food5. The waitress had to be waved down 2x. After getting the bill, gratuity was already added, which explains why the service was so horribleThe WORST experience ever!!!!

I’ll start with this. They can’t even print of a legible drink menu, so they must not want to sell their up priced booze very bad.Other than that. Food and service both really good.

Food what super good. My wife and I both got the combination enchiladas. We also has some chips and salsa. Waiter was nice. The mariachis sounded incredible. Had nothing but a wonderful experience. The table best to us got so guacamole. I wish I would have gotten some. Looked amazing.

Rio Rio Cantina Ask and answer

What are the Covid safety practices like here?
Similar to other places that I have seen, face coverings and social distancing. What is going on in the back is anyone's guess.
Do you have vegetarian menus? Are your rice/ beans and queso ........." Please reply...we want to come Gordon ER vegetarian or does it have chicken stock?
Honestly, I highly doubt their menu caters to vegetarians, refried beans tend to be cooked in pork lard, same for tortillas; you are left with guacamole and rice and maybe grilled vegetables. Mexican food rarely caters to vegies.
